JAVITS CONVENTION CENTER
The Jacob Javits Convention Center recently underwent a major renovation project to reduce energy consumption by 26%. Improvements to the existing building include the addition of a 292,000sf green roof, the second largest on a single, free-standing building in the US. Other significant city-wide benefits include the annual prevention of approximately 6.8 million gallons of stormwater run-off and additional aesthetic value in an urban open space – the pre-vegetated green roof system by Xero Flor America acts as a fifth building façade that is seen and appreciated from adjacent high-rises. New York Green Roofs was contracted by installer US Roofing Corp. to provide ongoing maintenance and project oversight assistance that will help insure the health and longevity of the project's goals.
